Hey guys, just a quick update. I am working with a developer to create an app that allows you to pull up musical instrument policies for specific airlines on demand. It will be available for both the Android and iPhone.
Why do I need this app?
Let's say you are in the process of departing from the Atlanta, GA airport, and you are having trouble checking in your Instrument, or perhaps you just boarded the plane and the flight attendant is denying you your right to travel with your instrument as carry on luggage. With this app, you will be able to prove to the person in question, in writing, that the airlines rules and regulations allow you as the customer to carry on/check-in your musical instrument in a matter of seconds.
Another feature this app has is that you will always have access to the most up-to-date musical instrument policy.
Why is it important to have the most up-to-date instrument policy on hand?
A lot of times, airline personnel will say to you, "well, the airline policy changes all the time, so you could be wrong". They say this not because they know the current policy (like they should), they say this because they don't want to appear as if they don't know the policy, so the "oh, the policy probably changed" line is really just a fabricated attempt to make themselves look as if they were right the whole time! (perhaps they should read Eckhart Tolle's book "A New Earth" to help release their inflated ego...). By having this app on hand, you can prove to the flight attendant, with the most current policy documents, that they were wrong, and you were the one who was actually right!
How will this app work?
Using the app is very simple. All you need to do is click the airline logo from the list, and you will be taken straight to the musical instrument policy page that is connected to the airline that you seek to travel with. Since the airline list is large in size, you will be able to use the 'search' feature located at the top of the user interface to pinpoint your airline of choice. Take a look at the design concept below.
Will all airlines be listed in the app?
In the beginning of the launch stage, I will run a small test to see if this app is something of value to users by listing only USA and Canadian airlines. If there is international demand to use this app, then I will add all major airlines from around the globe to the list.
